Priya is a visionary, who is singularly guided by her heart and spirit. It is from this deep connection that her life quest emerged - to empower women by bringing clarity and understanding of their inner selves, whether regarding their soul’s purpose, life’s work, relationships, health, or any other area of concern. With honesty, purity of spirit and energy she seeks to create a world in which women move forward in their lives manifesting dreams, wisdom, peace and freedom, to live fully and joyfully And spread this to the worlds they occupy. Her life has been inward-looking; ever since she was a child, lived in space of nature and a deep connection with all beings. From this source energy has emerged Mother Tree – an ancient call to empower women with information, insight, guidance and healings, and bring them to the lead the change in creating a new consciousness. Priya has been a professional in the field of communication for over twenty years, as well as a born seeker of all things wise and of the spirit. Very early, her strong intuitive nature helped her form deep and lasting connections with the earth, her beings and other spiritual teachers. Priya is a healer and has studied various healing modalities nationally and internationally, including telepathic and animal communication, meditation, chanting, and other spiritual practices. Priya lives in Bangalore, where she has recently set up Mother Tree an organization dedicated to the spiritual, psychological and physical evolution and empowerment of women. She lives in consonance with her beliefs—amid the abundance and compassion of life, in a deep connection and bond with her beloved family, animals and her spiritual self.
A journey that began in Scotland, passed through a series of awakenings and learning experiences with Buddhist lamas and Advaita mystics in India, culminates in a spiritual therapist named Mynavati She is a Christian by birth, Buddhist by belief and a Sathya Sai Baba devotee by faith. She expounds on Advaita philosophy and Buddhist tenets with equal ease. She was given the name Mynavati by H.W.L. Poonja, (popularly known as Papaji), a disciple of Ramana Maharshi. Mynavati has mostly lived in India for the last 15 years, learning from and sharing her life with Buddhist lamas and Hindu mystics. Having lived and travelled far and wide from Sikkim in the far North of India to the South of India where she now spends much of her time, she has imbibed the essence of Hinduism and Buddhism in the true sense. In the UK, she worked in the Civil Service in Edinburgh, Scotland. Her life was running smoothly when she suddenly suffered a shocking setback in her personal life leading to a vast psycho-spiritual opening. “I was 30 and I suddenly woke up one morning to realise that I had developed intense psychic ability. It confused and scared me. I could read other people’s thoughts and minds. It was not something I wanted to happen to me but it had happened,” recalls Mynavati. “It helped in certain ways in my job because when I recruited people, I knew the kind of people they were.” Slowly and steadily the word spread and people began making a beeline for her home, to consult her on various personal problems. Almost overnight, Mynavati was in tremendous demand and she met this through psychologically and spiritually working intensely on herself as well as training in healing, dreamwork, colour and sound. Combined with her degree in the Social Sciences, specializing in Psychology, she was elevated to the position of being a psychologist and spiritual therapist. Says she: “I was working from morning to evening, dealing with the problems that people faced. I was holding workshops, training healers and psychics and counselling people. Such was the demand for her counsel that she had to leave her government job as Welfare Officer for the Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries in Scotland and became a full-time healer and therapist. Buddhism came her way by chance. “I was told by a friend that a talk was being conducted by a Tibetan Rinpoche from Sikkim who had come to Edinburgh. I had the opportunity to meet him. But I was busy. My diary was crammed with appointments so there was no way I could have gone to see him. Actually, I wasn’t even interested at that point of time.” But during the night that the lama gave his public talk, Mynavati had an unnerving OBE (out-of-body experience) where she saw a river with hundreds of thousands of people, men women and children floating down in it. As she looked into the flowing stream of beings, she also heard a voice telling her: “Take a good look for you are next.” Mynavati was shocked. She did not understand the significance of the experience but the next day, a friend who had attended the meeting called her to tell her that the Rinpoche had talked about the river of Consciousness, and of the eternal flow of life, death and karma. She realised that at the time the Rinpoche was giving the talk, she personally experienced the teachings. She deeply regretted not having met him, especially with the evidence of such a profound connection. However, as luck or rather Grace would have it, the Rinpoche unexpectedly returned to Edinburgh some weeks later and this time, Mynavati cancelled everything in order to meet him. The events thereafter were not in her control. Within a few months, Mynavati left her lucrative work and comfortable home and came to India. For the first six months she stayed with the Rinpoche and his family and met many other high Tibetan Buddhist lamas imbibing the essence of Buddhism through their presence and teachings. “It was during my pilgrimage to Bodhghaya with Tibetan monks that I came across the Advaita philosophy and I was interested,” she says. It was also the time when she first heard of Papaji through a profound meeting with his disciple, Gangaji. She later travelled to Lucknow to be near Papaji and spent two wonderful years with him before he left his body. Now living most of the time in Puttaparthi (Sai Baba’s abode) in Andhra Pradesh, Mynavati has written six published books on various spiritual themes, including Heal and Be Happy with Prayer, Meditation and Affirmation, and created a unique game called ‘Divine Play’. About this game, she says: “It is about finding Wholeness in the relative world. Its roots are in Advaita, the Hindu philosophy of non-duality, but it also holds the seeds of Jungian archetypes, tribal rituals and Tibetan Buddhism. It is a uniquely powerful psychological and spiritual insight tool that can be used by anyone interested in delving deeper into the nature of his or her True Self. It can help in stabilising relationships, solving problems, improving attitudes, self-worth and creating spiritual awareness.” Divine Play uses a tarot-like double-sided card deck involving interrelated opposites and symbols of wholeness that helps people in learning how to be whole and complete in this world. Her latest book is the marvellous Forty-nine Days—a companion for those who have lost a loved one. The subject matter is death but in essence it is about Love. It is a book for everyone because everyone will experience love and loss at some time in their life. The publication before this book is the celebrated Bardo of Becoming, an exciting novel of the experience of life after death. Chakra Power-How to Heal the Emotions (now reprinted) is widely used by people from all over the world to help them purify the emotional body through the use of powerful hand placements and meditations. Mynavati’s books are eclectic and use the wisdom inherent in all traditions. They embrace ancient Truths and give tremendous practical help. Reading any one of her books will change your life. Mynavati’s philosophy of life Life is a great gift, a precious gift to give us the opportunity of realising the Truth of our Oneness with God. That is the only true reason as to why we are born. All else is secondary and a possible distraction. What we earn, what we do, what we try to own, is secondary. But life is also God and so we should respect and honour all aspects of life. If we keep the correct perspective we can enjoy God’s play, God’s Leela and God’s manifestation, keeping in mind that our true purpose is to experience God within ourself and all beings—to realise Divine Nature and Godliness. Her path to salvation There is no one way–no unique and correct path. All spiritual/divine paths lead to God. Just as we are unique so we each have our own very personal way of relating to God and of discovering God in everything and everyone. But, regardless of what path we are on and how we pray, if we can merely remember foremost God and the divinity in everything and everyone, including ourselves, we cannot ever become lost and we will ultimately find ‘home’. Her understanding of Advaita Advaita is the concept of non-duality. Everything is One. The world appears to be made up of many fragments but in Truth, there is no division, no split and all is One. To embrace Oneness—to see and experience all as our Divine Self is the aim of Advaita. Her path to happiness In every given conscious moment, allow yourself to be happy! It is your choice to be happy or miserable! And when you feel happy, try not to be exclusive and share that happiness with all sentient beings. This can be through intention and not necessarily action. You can think, ‘I am happy and so let all beings, all creation, be touched by this great happiness of mine.’ Also, when experiencing suffering, do not waste the opportunity to use this time to alleviate someone else’s suffering. ‘At this moment, I feel as though I am suffering. I accept this right now, but in so doing, let me at least alleviate someone else’s suffering in the world....’ As soon as we do this, we feel happy! Why? Because we immediately connect with our true Divine compassionate nature and in so doing, we cannot be sad or feel as though we are suffering.

Sheila Wee is a Briton who has lived in Singapore since 1983. She received a teaching diploma in speech and drama from Guildhall School of Music and Drama in London after which she held speech, drama and oral communication classes for children. In 1999 she co-founded Singapore’s first storytelling circle which later became a special interest group of the Society for Reading and Literacy. Sheila has worked with organizations such as the National Book Development Council (Singapore), the Ministry of Education (Singapore) and the Storytelling Association (Singapore). Sheila’s storytelling includes Singaporean myths and legends, Asian and Western folktales and lively participation and prop stories. Her style varies as she caters to the needs of her audience. From heightened and lyrical, to down to earth and direct, she tweaks her storytelling into the most powerful form. Most often she tells stories to audiences of thousands however, she enjoys intimate storytelling gatherings where the power of story can truly be revealed. Science is now telling us that we think in stories; our brain is hardwired that way. This is not surprising, as since the earliest times humanity has educated itself through storytelling. Storytelling has helped us pass on survival skills and values; build strongly bonded families and communities; learn how to live together in peace. In the rush towards modernity, we have neglected the wisdom of the ages; the power of our stories. I see my mission as one of a restorer; restoring storytelling to its rightful place in the centre of human society. For I believe that if we tell our human stories, eye to eye, mind to mind, and heart to heart we can draw closer to each other and share the collective wisdom that is our heritage. Sometimes in a workshop, or after a performance, someone will share a story that has touched them in a similar way. That is when I feel truly privileged to do this work. For how often are you given a glimpse of another’s soul?” |
